Yacht Tutor - professional sailing services

Yacht Tutor offers a friendly and professional personalised sailing service that focuses on people at every stage of their yachting experience. We are also here to help those of you who are regular sailors, but due to business and other commitments, don’t get to sail as often as they’d like.

As principal, I hold a RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Instructor qualification, Commercially Endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Ocean with STCW95. I live in Mobberley, Cheshire and I have been sailing for over 45 years. After many years working for some of the World’s top companies – AstraZeneca, IBM, Sun Microsystems and BT, I finally found the time to pursue my love of sailing full time. I began sailing as a boy, racing dinghies (Fireball, Laser) and later moved into yacht cruising and racing. I have since sailed over the globe and have completed the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers twice (2nd in class both times). I have been a freelance professional skipper since 2010 working for for a variety of RYA Sailing Schools and run my own RYA Shorebased Training Centre. I have competed in the Round the Island Race and skippered in several Cowes Week regattas.

I am an RYA Shorebased instructor offering classroom tuition and I work as a freelance RYA Instructor for many Sailing Schools to deliver RYA practical courses.

I am acutely aware of the time pressure we all live under and seek to add value to your sailing by practicing useful skills, passing on racing tips or simply assisting you to acheive your sailing dreams. I have also have a degree in Zoology.
